The
visa and residence permit are crucial for your stay in China. It plays an
important role in your study and graduation here. You cannot be too careful
about the validity of the two.
Visa and Permit Types:
l X1-Visa
The
length of validity of an X1-visa is 30 days. Holders of this type should apply
for a residence permit from the office for international student affairs within
30 days from the date of entry. This type of visa cannot be changed to any
other types.
l X2/F/L-Visa
The
designated days of stay show on the X2/F/L visa. It counts from the date of
entry. For example, if you enter China on August 25 with an X2/F/L visa valid
for 90 days, you can stay here legally until November 23.
The allowed times of entry also show on the visa.
The holder can enter the country as many times as designated. For instance, a
two-entry X2-visa means that you can enter China with this visa two times at
most, and your duration of stay starts counting from the date of the second
entry.

Students
who plan to study in China for a year or more need to apply for the residence
permit. The expiration date shows on the permit. Holders can enter the country

is valid more than 180 days, while the latter is no more than 180 days.
